Two Blogs= 100,000 Hits

I began writing two blogs about two years ago. Today, those two websites logged a combined 100,000 hits. One blog, www.ristripedbass.blogspot.com, was started as just a local website that would give RI fishermen tips and ideas for fishing for striped bass in the Ocean State from shore, boat and kayak. That site now attracts viewers from all over the East Coast and is one of the top striper fishing websites in New England in terms of popularity and volume. My other blog, www.ricarpfishing.blogspot.com, was started to inform RI fishermen about the great potential of this fishery. As the state chairman of the RI Carp Anglers (CAG) group, I used this vehicle to inform carp fishermen about European techniques, equipment and information about the CAG. The interesting thing about this blog is that it attracts viewers from all over North America as well as from the UK and other parts of Europe. It has worldwide appeal that I never anticipated. Thank you to all of my loyal readers for making these sites so popular. I will continue to bring you up-to-date and relevant information about carp fishing and striper fishing here in RI.

  1. Hey Dave,
Headed up to Scotts pond on the corner of Chapel and Walker today, right next to the fire station.I was there from noon until 3:30 soaking vanilla flavored boilies and corn on three rods.Apparently the word of the day is skunk-Any advice ? Chubby Ole Mike

  2. Did you prebait?
Boilies are ineffective at Scotts where the majority of fish are under 10 lbs.
And, fishing is off since the water is still cold.
Advice to get into shallow water at this time since shallow water heats up faster.

  4. The Blackstone is still cold and running high. It tends to heat up in May. I fish a lot of "small" and private spots that have taken years to find. Rivers Edge Park in Woonsocket is a big public access place. The canal in Lincoln might be a good choice if you wanted to fish Blackstone waters with small fish at this time.
At this time I would stick to shallow water ponds such as Roger Williams (great access), Lincoln Woods, Spectackle, Warwick Pd. or Brickyard Pd. These are all good early season producers.
If you are new at this, expect many blanks in the early going until you get a feel for it and find a couple of spots that produce. They are not easy fish to catch.
